Breaker is the second song to be released from the new album. Fans got their first taste of what is to come with the release of Blueprints Of A Great Escape earlier in the year.
The latest track is exactly what we’ve come to expect from Circles; emotional lyrics paired with sheer force and precision. They’re not afraid to take a few liberties either. People worldwide are taking notice too; with the band signing to infamous French label Season Of Mist for a European and American release. Back home, the band signed to new heavy label Wild Thing Records earlier in the year.
Guitarist Ted Furuhashi said that a lot of The Last One was born out of the band pushing their own sonic ideals. “The Last One is definitely an album that we’re all proud of. For me personally, it’s the record I’ve always wanted to write” said Furuhashi.
“After our first ever European tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan in 2013, I made a conscious decision to make music for myself and not write for expectation. Writing for The Last One started as soon as we got back from that tour and as you’d expect, we had songs that didn’t really sound like Circles at all, but we definitely didn’t want our back catalogue to define us or at least define what the next album will be, so we continued writing completely without boundaries.”
The Last One is set to be a promising follow up to their debut album Infinitas. Guitarist Ben Rechter has assumed the role of lead vocalist, providing soaring vocals and catchy hooks in equal measure.
Not only that, the band are as tight as ever after a few years of rigorous touring. Their international travels have seen them play Euroblast festival, as well as sharing stages with Twelve Foot Ninja, Monuments, and Fear Factory to name a few.
Fans won’t have to wait long to hear the new songs get a workout on stage. Circles have been announced as the support band for UK prog masters TesseracT on their Australian tour in September.
